Web Series Old Dogs & New Tricks Prepares to Shoot First Season

Old Dogs & New Tricks

Old Dogs & New Tricks

Sept. 25, 2011 – West Hollywood, CA –Old Dogs & New Tricks begins production in November on its first season, which will premiere Jan. 8, 2011 on YouTube and at its website, thanks to the wonderful reception to its pilot. Funds are currently being raised at http://www.indiegogo.com/Old-Dogs-New-Tricks-First-4-Episodes. Old Dogs & New Tricks focuses on four diverse, successful gay best friends—each located squarely within middle age and struggling to stay vital and relevant in youth-obsessed West Hollywood—and how they react (or overreact) and adjust (or not) to getting older. The pilot of the new web series, released July 30, 2011, has scored more than 4,800 YouTube views in its first eight weeks online with a 95% “like” rating, with no other marketing than their Facebook and Twitter accounts. “Think The Birdcage meets Sex and the City, and you’ve got an idea of how this fabulously fun show plays,” wrote the website Placevine.com, which covers the web TV industry. MingleMedia TV said, “If you like a good comedy romp watch Old Dogs & New Tricks.” Leon Acord (Carved in Stone, Some Prefer Cake), Curt Bonnem (Kowalski; Lovelace: The Rock Opera), Jeffrey Patrick Olson (Daddy) and David Pevsner (Naked Boys Singing, To Bitter and Back) star as the four friends; cabaret star Amanda Abel and Ryland Shelton appear in recurring roles. Patrick Bristow and Thom Bierdz (Young & the Restless) will play recurring guest roles. Old Dogs & New Tricks is written/created by Acord, and is developed for the web and directed by Arvin Bautista (My Suicide). Matt Ladensack, Laurence Whiting and Acord serve as Co-Executive Producers. The show’s score is composed by veteran film and TV composer Nic. tenBroek (Dark Angel, Xena: Warrior Princess).
